Show originalWe are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our software development squads at Memed, a healthtech that directly impacts the healthcare ecosystem in Brazil.
This is a strategic position that combines technical leadership, people development, and direct influence on the product and business. Here, you won't just be a manager: we expect someone who deeply understands engineering, participates in technical decisions, and helps evolve both the team and our solutions.
Rather than someone who simply "manages tasks," we are looking for a person who develops people, raises the team's technical bar, and lays the foundation for sustainable, scalable engineering focused on product and business impact.
As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for technically leading an engineering squad, ensuring autonomy with accountability, clear context, and best practices for delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions. Your role will be to balance technical execution, people growth, and strategic alignment, actively contributing to Memed's growth and the continuous improvement of our platform.
Responsibilities and Duties
Technical and People Leadership: lead an engineering squad by promoting technical excellence, autonomy, and accountability; developing engineers through continuous feedback, mentorship, and growth plans.
Product Delivery and Impact: ensure consistent delivery of solutions that generate real impact on the product and business, balancing speed, quality, reliability, and scalability.
Software Architecture and Quality: actively participate in architectural decisions, define technical standards, and ensure resilient, secure, and easily evolvable systems.
Agile Planning and Execution: facilitate the planning, prioritization, and execution of the squad's work, removing impediments and ensuring alignment with Product, Design, and other stakeholders.
Engineering Excellence: promote best practices such as code review, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and continuous improvement of code quality and system performance.
Data-Driven Decision Making: utilize engineering metrics such as lead time, throughput, availability, and quality to guide technical and process decisions.
Cross-functional Collaboration: act as a bridge between engineering, product, and business, ensuring clear communication, strategic alignment, and focus on the end customer.
Platform Evolution: contribute to the evolution of the architecture and platform, supporting initiatives related to scale, security, performance, and reliability.
Recruitment and Team Building: actively participate in attracting, selecting, and onboarding talent, helping to build diverse, technically strong teams aligned with our culture.
Culture and Continuous Improvement: foster a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, technical accountability, and ownership.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields.
- Prior hands-on experience as a software developer, with real-world experience building, evolving, and maintaining systems in production.
- Experience in technical leadership and people development, acting as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or in a similar role.
- Consistent track record of forming, developing, and scaling high-performance engineering teams, promoting autonomy, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Experience in agile and collaborative environments, working closely with Product, Design, and other business areas.
- Experience in making technical decisions, defining architecture, and continuously monitoring code quality.
- Solid understanding of security, scalability, and high availability.
