Senior Backend Engineer / Hands-on Tech Lead — Node.js + NestJS

We are a B2B SaaS platform serving solar energy integrators across Brazil: plant monitoring, CRM, payments, and a WhatsApp messaging product built on the official API. We are launching new initiatives in Node/NestJS and are looking for someone to own this foundation from day one—not just to "pick up tickets," but to decide how it will be built.

What you will do

• Build new services in Node/NestJS from scratch: data modeling, contracts, queues, observability, deployment, and on-call responsibilities.
• Make architectural decisions in a multi-tenant system with unstable third-party integrations—resilience, idempotency, and retry logic are part of daily life.
• Elevate the team's technical level: review code, define standards, mentor mid-level and junior developers, and advocate for quality without blocking delivery.
• Participate in product discussions with direct access to the CTO and business context; we expect you to challenge scope, not just implement.
• Get hands-on with infrastructure when needed, including Kubernetes.

What we're looking for

• Extensive backend experience—practically 8+ years writing production software, with solid experience in Node/TypeScript and NestJS.
• Experience building a product from scratch in a startup environment and dealing with the long-term consequences of your own technical choices.
• Hands-on technical leadership profile: lead by technical reference, not by agenda management.
• Platform mindset: think about multi-tenancy, infrastructure costs, third-party limits, data migration, gradual rollouts, and incidents outside business hours.
• Ability to investigate end-to-end problems, correlating logs, network, database, and third-party APIs.
• Clear written communication and a habit of documenting technical decisions.

Nice to haves

• Experience with messaging systems at scale, such as WhatsApp Business API and CPaaS.
• Comfortable in a polyglot ecosystem—part of the core is Java/Spring, and you will interact with it.
• Experience operating GCP in production.
• Technical English for reading and documentation.
